Water hyacinths float in water or sometimes take root in the soil. Water hyacinth has a height of 40-80 cm. this plant has a speed of growing up to double the population in just two weeks. High growth speed causes these plants are often considered as weeds that can damage the aquatic environment. Some efforts that can be used to mitigate the negative impacts of the rapid growth of water hyacinth are to use it for compost, biogas or handicrafts.
Currently water hyacinth is widely used for crafts made from natural fibers.
The water hyacinth is dried and then processed before being woven by the craftsmen into various products such as boxes, storage, bags. The use of water hyacinth for product applications adds a unique texture and gives beautiful visuals
